CRIMINAL DEFENSE

We represent clients at nearly every stage of criminal proceedings from initial investigation through trial to appeals and even post conviction relief. The law of this country remains that you are innocent until proven guilty. If you are an immigrant with a criminal charge, we are particularly careful to be sure that your criminal defense strategy involves lessening the immigration impact of your charges. Sadly, immigrants in this country are punished twice. Once by the criminal court system and then again by the immigration courts. We are very aware that a good outcome of criminal proceedings for a U.S. citizen can be very different than the best outcome for a non-citizen.

STATE AND FEDERAL CRIMINAL OFFENSES

We are honest with our clients. We are not cheerleaders. The hiring of a lawyer is a very serious decision. You are hiring a soldier in your battle against the government. We make sure that all of our clients understand they are purchasing a very serious fight rather than an outcome. Our judicial system is adversarial meaning that each side (the prosecutor and the defendant) gets to present his case and to show the holes and mistakes in the other side’s case. When the judges and juries make wrong decisions, we appeal. If you are an immigrant, we take care in the preparation of your case to be sure that your defense is an Immigrant Focused Defense.

IMMIGRATION OFFENSES

Federal prosecutors are actively pursuing cases against immigration law offenders. The most common immigration law offenses are: alien smuggling, domestic transportation of illegal aliens, concealing or harboring unauthorized aliens, assisting unauthorized aliens to enter the U.S., and engaging in a conspiracy, or aiding and abetting any of these offenses. The consequences of being adjudicated guilty are serious. There are possible fines and possible jail terms of up to 10 years.
