Professional Work Visa
(H1-B)
Almost everyone has heard about the H-1B visa. The H-1B visa allows you
to enter the U.S. in order to work for six years. Most people have not
heard about the other requirements: (1) you must have at least a bachelor’s
degree from a college or university; (2) you must have a job offer in
the U.S. for a position which needs someone with a bachelor’s degree;
and (3) the employer must be willing to pay a minimum salary which is
different according to job and location. If you receive an H-1B visa,
your husband or wife and children under 21 will receive H-4 visas allowing
them to remain with you in the U.S. until your own H-1B comes to an end.
The nice thing about H-1B visas is that you get to stay here long enough
to get your green card through a process called Labor Certification.
